Joining the Adobe Connect room

Join the online meeting by visiting http://ala.adobeconnect.com/ifc/.  If you’re not yet comfortable yet with using Adobe Connect, feel free to email Deborah in advance for a practice session or to enter the room in advance of the meeting time.

You’ll need a stable internet connection and working headphones/speakers. Be sure your headset is plugged in and recognized by your computer before you enter the room. Microphones and webcams are not required but they do make the meeting more engaging.

The meeting room will open to everyone 15 minutes before the start of the meeting. You’ll want to enter as a guest using your name. You will not need to register or use a password to attend this meeting.

Once you’re in the meeting room, make sure to run the Audio Set-Up Wizard (under the Meeting tab) to ensure your audio is working properly.

Preparing for the meeting

Run this technical test before any Adobe Connect meeting, to make sure you’re ready to go.  It checks to make sure that your computer has the latest Adobe Connect add-in.

Go to:

http://admin.adobeconnect.com/common/help/en/support/meeting_test.htm and run the test.

Let the test run. It tests for Flash, Connection and Speed, and for the most current Adobe Connect add-in (version:11.9.980.387)

If your test results indicate that you have already installed the add-in, you’re done. If your test results indicate “Add-in Not Installed,” click the Install Add-in button. (Note: If the test site asks you to install Flash, please also install Flash by clicking “Download Flash Player”)

A window will pop up.  The window says: "Adobe Connect Add-in, to use this application, you need the Adobe Connect Add-in. Would you like to install it now?"  Select Yes.

The download will begin. You may see an indication near your URL bar (top left) that says "Adobe Flash Player on http://admin.adobeconnect.com  wants to access your computer." Select Allow.

You may see a puzzle piece with a red exclamation mark in the top right corner of your screen with the message: “An unsandboxed plugin was allowed to run on this page. Please select continue allowing unsandboxed plugins.” Select Continue.

Run this technical test before any Adobe Connect meeting, to make sure you’re ready to go.
