    <p><strong><span style="text-decoration: underline;">POSITION SUMMARY:</span></strong></p> <p>This position leads enhancement of Access Services and oversees the technical operations of multiple, complex services and systems for Access Services ensuring efficient centralized operations for the Library through leadership, direction and management. Assists Team Leader with staff development of senior staff by directly supervising 5-7 supervisory/leadership classified staff positions as well as providing managerial support and guidance to a team with 35-39 FTE and 40-60 part-time student employees. Collaborates with Library Operation Supervisors to determine staffing levels and mixture of staff and students to realize optimal efficiencies and cost effectives. Manages and oversees with Library Operation Supervisors, the accountability and stewardship of campus financial resources in a manner consistent with campus and system-wide compliance goals and objectives, meeting university reporting and record retention requirements. Develops and administers policies, service, and programs which have a large impact on campus and the UA System. Collaborates with units inside and outside the library (e.g. Interlibrary Loan, Facilities, Law and AHSL Libraries, UA CatCard Office and Systems Control, Library IT and the UITS Multimedia Zone) to deliver new and efficient services. Manages all aspects of UAL compliance with patron records (FERPA), billing and Code of Conduct.&nbsp;</p> <p>&nbsp;</p> <p>The incumbent supports the library in its mission and vision in providing excellent customer service, and by improving student awareness of the suite of services and resources offered by the library through participation in project teams, task forces, campus public programming, student education and success events. Helps envision the future and establish direction by assisting Team Leader with the development of AIST environmental scanning, strategic and operational planning process.</p> <p><strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <p>¨&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Represents the UA Library perspective with other units on campus, system-wide, and nationally around relevant issues pertaining to Access Services. Reviews and responds to national and vendor listservs keeping up to date with current trends and technology. Provides updates to pertinent information to the team and library.</p> <p>¨&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Maintains a working knowledge of issues and trends in Access Services, specifically those associated with academic libraries and the use of customer related technology.</p> <p>¨&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Assists Team Leader with staff development of senior staff by directly supervising 5-7 supervisory/leadership classified staff positions as well as providing managerial support and guidance to a team with 35-39 FTE and 40-60 part-time student employees. Handles (or assists) complex personnel matters including performance management and grievances.</p> <p>¨&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Directs, leads and manages classified staff in utilizing complex and multiple system for assigned services. Directs staff to develop, deliver, train and update Access Services training documentation in a 24x7 work environment. Works with Library Operation Supervisors to ensure competency of staff, temporary and student employees including documenting performance in areas where performance has been identified for needed improvements. Coaches and mentors staff in assigned area.</p> <p>¨&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Works with Library Operation Supervisors to monitor workflow and adjust work schedules as needed to ensure quality standards are met for customers.</p> <p>¨&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Leads enhancement of Access Services and oversees multiple complex services (e.g. Computer and Room/Locker Access including scheduling, ILS system functionality and associated services: Holds/Searches, Express Retrieval, Equipment Lending, Collections and Bursar Billing) and systems (e.g. D!bs, PC Reservation, and III) for Access Services. Leads the team in areas of data collection, creating reports using software such as Excel, Access, and Qualtrics.</p> <p>¨&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Analyzes data using the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Assess, Implement and Control) methodology and Six Sigma to improve processes in the team and determine if the team is meeting performance metrics, if not, determine root causes, analyze solutions and make adjustments. Working with Library Analyst, provides detailed and complex data analysis and reports, including trend data.</p> <p>¨&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Through the provision of excellent customer service, develops and fosters excellent relations with faculty, students, other researchers as well as vendors. Responds to customer complaints and as appropriate refers to AIST Team Leader and AIST Manager of Reference.</p> <p>¨&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Manages and monitors student wage budget of over $100,000. Working with Team Leader, Manager of Reference Services, and Library Operation Supervisors manages the various team operation budget(s) of over $35,000 ensuring budget(s) are being spent efficiently to meet the work of the team: AIST, ILC and Repair/Replacement</p> <p>¨&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Manages all aspects of UAL compliance with patron records (FERPA), billing and Code of Conduct.&nbsp;</p> <p>¨&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Helps envision the future and establish direction by assisting Team Leader with the development of AIST environmental scanning, strategic and operational planning process.</p> <p>¨&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Provides basic research needs by providing information and referral services at various Library service sites, including evening and weekend as needed.</p> <p>¨&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Share knowledge and expertise through scholarship and service as appropriate.</p>
